Trickster Online features a neat drilling system that allows a player to acquire exp and items without having to beat the living daylights out of stuff, some items can only be acquired through drilling.

Drilling takes several steps, here they are in as concise of a format as possible:

1. Acquire a drill, pretty obvious, you can buy low level drills from item shops, other drills drop from monsters, and some can be drilled up. Equip the drill like equipment.

2. Most drills have a specific terrain they are used for, a drill has a certain number of uses, each time you use it, that number goes down by 1. Using a drill on a terrain its not designed for will reduce it by 2 each time.

3. Several types of ground exists, they are all graphically different, use your common sense.

4. Hit D when you are in a drillable map (non-city map) and your cursor will turn into a downward pointing arrow, click on the screen where you want your character to drill and your character will move there and begin a drilling animation.

5. Here's the tricky part, a little UI appears with a face, a bar, and a number...

This is kinda what it looks like:

|__0| <- depth

=).....v..........45m <- drill max

|____|__________| <- drill bar

...............830/850 <- uses left / total uses

The Depth is the depth your drill is currently at

The drill max depth is the furthest depth your drill can reach

The uses left / total uses is...what it says.

6. To drill, left click and hold your mouse until the bar fills up past the line on the drill bar, when this occurs, you will hear a drilling sound, and your character will shake rather violently, the depth gauge will begin to rise.

7. Release the mouse button, and your drill bar will drop, if it drops past the line on the drill bar (denoted by an arrow [the v] when its covered up), your depth gauge will drop

8. Once past the line, using a sequence of holds and releases, keep the drill bar from completely filling up yet not drop past the line to drill deeper.

9. Four things will happen now: A) You screw up, the depth returns to zero, you waste 1 drill use. B) You drill to the maximum depth of the terrain you are on, you are given an item roll to see if you get an item. C) You drill to the maximum depth of your drill, but past the minimum depth of the terrain you are on, you are given an item roll for a lesser item. D) You drill to the maximum depth of your drill, but not yet reached the minimum depth of the terrain you are on, you are not given a chance for an item, you waste 1 drill use.

10. If you recieve an item, you will gain TMxp and character level XP, pick up the item that will now be on the ground near you. If you fail to find an item, you will receive half the character level XP you would gain if you had succeeded, you gain no TMxp. If you do not drill to the maximum depth, xp gained is scaled to the depth you did reach against the maximum depth.

Note that drills, like any equipment, have a level requirement.
